Sober Christmas

The holiday season is upon us once again. The house here at Tallgrass has been decorated. December is my sobriety month, it was four years ago that I walked into the doors of this place. I had come from county detox, so this place was like heaven. Overwhelmed with fear and guilt about drinking…again. Little did I know that would be my season to receive the gift of recovery. On Christmas we went out to a meeting then dinner at Westside. I sat between two rough bikers who promised that it would get better, that if they could get sober, I could too. I am not certain if I believed them, what I do know, is I am forever grateful to have met those two guys. The miracle that would become my life started that Holiday season.

Merry Christmas to all of you. May you all have a safe and sober Holiday Season. -Joan S. #113
