Tallgrass Recovery and Sober Living is a 12 step immersion community in Sioux Falls where people rediscover their worth, rebuild their lives, and experience real freedom from addiction. Since 2006, our approach has helped thousands find lasting sobriety. More than 60 percent of our alumni remain sober, a result possible only through genuine community, spiritual transformation, and lived experience.
Families choose Tallgrass because they want more than another program. They want something that works. They want a place that feels safe. They want people who understand. Here, you find all three. From your first conversation with us, you feel the difference. You are welcomed. You are believed in. You are not alone.
Come be part of the community that changes lives. Stay connected. Feel the warmth and belonging that define Tallgrass.

For the first time, many guests say they feel understood. They feel wanted. They feel capable. This is why change happens here.
Our 30 night 12 step immersion program creates the momentum and spiritual awakening required for meaningful, lasting recovery. Guests are guided one on one through the steps by someone living their own recovery.
Nearly 40 hours per week are dedicated to meetings, speakers, spiritual practice, and community involvement.
There is no pressure. No judgment. No distance. Only genuine care and a clear path forward.
People succeed here because Tallgrass is not just a program. It is a family. When you complete the program, that connection continues for life through meetings, meals, events, volunteer opportunities, and an alumni community that has your back.
Watch our alumni share their stories and see what is possible.

A structured, spiritually centered, community based experience that serves as the foundation for lasting sobriety.

A supportive, accountable environment where residents continue growing in recovery with the guidance of peers and mentors.

Your mentor is someone actively living in recovery who walks beside you through the steps. They offer lived experience, direction, and hope.

We are stewards of our mission. Everyone on our team models love, accountability, and spiritual principles in everything we do.

As a not for profit organization, Tallgrass is committed to making recovery accessible through affordable solutions.

Tallgrass exists because of volunteers, alumni, and donors who continue showing up for the next person who needs help.
Over 80 percent of our support is delivered by volunteers who once stood in the same place as our guests. Their presence brings authenticity and comfort that cannot be replicated.
Every guest is paired with someone who has successfully completed the work and understands the fears, challenges, and spiritual growth required.
Every day, people experience miracles at Tallgrass. Guests feel seen, valued, and encouraged to believe in a life they never thought they could have.
Recovery is not built alone. At Tallgrass, you become part of a community that remains in your life for years to come.

Clinical research from Harvard Medical School shows that Twelve Step Facilitation (TSF) significantly improves long-term recovery outcomes. Compared to other leading therapies, individuals in TSF programs experienced 60–71% higher rates of sustained remission in the first year. Even more compelling, at a 3-year follow-up, abstinence rates were 50% higher among those engaged in Twelve Step–based care.
These results are driven by one key factor: active participation in recovery communities like AA, which has been shown to create lasting behavioral change, stronger support systems, and improved accountability.
At Tallgrass Recovery, our Twelve Step Program approach is designed to connect you with these proven pathways to long-term sobriety—so recovery is not just possible, but sustainable.
